Pleasant Hills: Camera Lateral Inspection scheduling

What happens during the test

  • The plumber runs a dye test to check that no stormwater or surface water connection drains into the sanitary sewer.
  • A camera goes through the sewer lateral and the tap to the public sewer line to look for blockages, cracks, breaks and root intrusion.
  • Foundation drains, sump pumps and downspouts tied into the lateral count as illegal connections.
  • A Borough witness watches the footage live and makes the final pass or fail decision.

If the test fails

Illegal connections must be removed and defects repaired by a licensed master plumber. A new inspection is then scheduled with a Borough witness. The 2024 ordinance removed the temporary certificate option, so the sale cannot close until the property passes. Call 412-655-5034 with questions.
