Scott Township: Online Application for Dye Testing

What happens during the test

  • The plumber puts dye tablets in the downspouts and area drains, then flushes them with water.
  • The downstream sanitary sewer manhole is watched for dyed water, which would show stormwater getting into the sanitary sewer.

If the test fails

The owner must fix the problem before the property can be sold. A licensed plumber then retests the property and the application is resubmitted. Call the Compliance Officer at 412-276-5300 ext. 218 with questions.
